Adding Pearson Textbooks to your iPad
If you have purchase a new or used Pearson textbook that comes with a code for a digital textbook this guide will help step you adding the textbook to your iPad. It is recommended that you download the textbooks on your home internet connection as the internet connection at John Curtin can be very slow during the school day.
In order to add a Pearson textbook to your iPad you will need to do the following.

Create a Pearson account
- Add the textbook to your bookshelf
- Download the Pearson application to your iPad
- Download the textbook to your iPad
Create a Pearson Places account
If you already have an account you can skip this step.
On a web browser go to the site www.pearson.com.au/activate
Located on the top of the page is the login section.
- Click on the "Create a free Pearson Places Account"
- A new form page will load. Fill in the form with your details.
- Click the register button
You have now created a new account. Your username is the username you provided.
Add the textbook to your bookshelf
- Open the physical textbook to the back cover and you will find a Pearson Access Card.

You should have an alpha numeric code. On a web browser go to the site www.pearsonplaces.com.au

Sign in using your Pearson Places account

Enter your code on the right hand side, where it says "Enter Access Code"

Click Submit
- Enter your year level and select the college name it will appear as you start typing
Note: Pearson has John Curtin listed as being in NSW. This is incorrect but use it anyway.
You have now added a digital copy of your textbook to your Pearson Places account.
Download the Pearson eBook application to your iPad
In order to follow these steps you will need to have a registered Apple ID. For information on how to setup an Apple ID click here.
Follow these steps on your iPad

Tap on the App Store app

Type Pearson in the search bar at the top right hand corner

The Pearson eBook will be the top result

Tap the blue "get" button beside this app

Tap the green "install" button beside this app

If asked, enter your Apple ID password
The application will now download and install
Download the textbook to your iPad
Follow these steps on your iPad

Tap on the Pearson eBook app
- Tap on Check for New eBooks in the right hand corner

Enter the username and password you used to create your Pearson Places account

Tap the check button

Select the textbooks you wish to download

Tap the download button

Your textbook will now start downloading
Important: In order to download the textbook your iPad will need to remain on and at the download screen. If you turn off your iPad or change applications the download will pause. Depending on your internet speed and textbook size your download could take up to 30 minutes.
If you would like to walk away and leave your iPad while it downloads the textbook follow the steps here to turn off your AutoLock and prevent the iPad from going to sleep.

Press the home button on the iPad

Tap on the settings app

Tap on the General button on the left hand side

Tap AutoLock on the right hand side
- Tap on the Never option
