Adding Nelson Textbooks to your iPad

If you have purchase a new or used Nelson textbook that comes with a code for a digital textbook this guide will help step you adding the textbook to your iPad. It is recommended that you download the textbooks on your home internet connection as the internet connection at John Curtin can be very slow during the school day.

In order to add a Nelson textbook to your iPad you will need to do the following.

Create a Nelson account
Add the textbook to your bookshelf
Download the NelsonNet application to your iPad
Login to your Nelson account on your iPad
Download the textbook to your iPad

Create a Nelson account

If you already have an account you can skip this step.

On a web browser go to the site www.nelsonnet.com.au

Located on the right hand side of the page is the login section.

Click on the "create a new student account" button
A new form page will load. Fill in the form with your details.
Click the save button

You have now created a new account. Your username is the email address you used to fill in the form.

Add the textbook to your bookshelf

Open the physical textbook to the back cover and you will find a Student Access Code Card.
On the back of the Student Access Card are a section of access codes.

Important: You only need to scratch off one code for your use of the book. The other codes remain for resale if the book is going to be used for another new user.

You should have an alpha numeric code. On a web browser go to the site www.nelsonnet.com.au
Sign in using your Nelson account
On the left hand side you will see a section called "add a title to your bookshelf". Enter your code here.
Click Add Title.

You have now added a digital copy of your textbook to your NelsonNet account.

Download the NelsonNet application to your iPad

In order to follow these steps you will need to have a registered Apple ID. For information on how to setup an Apple ID click here.

Follow these steps on your iPad

Tap on the App Store app
Type NelsoNet in the search bar at the top right hand corner
The NelsonNet - NelsonNetBook eReader for Australian secondary student eBooks will be the top result
Tap the blue "get" button beside this app
Tap the green "install" button beside this app
If asked, enter your Apple ID password

The application will now download and install

Tap on the NelsonNetBook app
Enter the email address and password you used to create your Nelson account
Tap the login button

You will then see a bookshelf with your Nelson textbooks that you have added to your account.

Download the textbook to your iPad

Follow these step in the NelsonNetBook application on your iPad

Tap on the textbook you wish to download
Tap the download button
Your textbook will now start downloading

Important: In order to download the textbook your iPad will need to remain on and at the download screen. If you turn off your iPad or change applications the download will pause. Depending on your internet speed and textbook size your download could take up to 30 minutes.

If you would like to walk away and leave your iPad while it downloads the textbook follow the steps here to turn off your AutoLock and prevent the iPad from going to sleep.

Press the home button on the iPad
Tap on the settings app
Tap on the General button on the left hand side
Tap AutoLock on the right hand side
Tap on the Never option
